Geoprobe® Machine Owners Speak Up About Their Refurbished Equipment

“We believe the appearance of our equipment is a reflection of how our company is perceived by clients,” said Anthony (Tony) Pressimone, Operations Manager for Environmental Probing Investigations (EPI) in Cream Ridge, NJ, responding to why EPI sent their 6620DT to the Kansas Geoprobe® Service Center for refurbishing. “Ours is a service-oriented business,” Tony added. “If we look good, our clients look good, and they keep coming back to us because of that. When Geoprobe® is good, we’re better!”

Darren Stanley, Geoprobe® Resource Service Manager, encourages Geoprobe® machine owners to keep their existing fleet field-ready, reliable and looking good, “especially during these economic times,“ he said. “Our Refurbishing/Retrofit Program makes your ‘tired’ machine a reliable member of your machine group again!”

The Devonian Group in Lafayette, LA, took delivery in November of their refurbished 6610DT (purchased in 2003). According to Lonny Gaudet, Owner of the company,“the machine was running okay, but it had been limping home quite often. We knew it was still a good machine; it just needed work. Now it goes out with our other 6620DTs with no worry about it not coming home in the evening.”

Steve Widincamp, Chief of Explorations for the Savannah District, US Army Corps of Engineers, had their 1999 66DT refurbished late in 2007. “We’ve been extremely happy with the results,” Steve said. “We were expecting new paint and getting some hydraulic leaks fixed, but the final product exceeded
our expectations!” The Corps felt the 66DT had surpassed its expected service life, but after talking to John Martinuzzi, Geoprobe® Customer Service in Florida, and with Darren, the Corps opted to refurbish the machine. “In addition to the new paint, everything on the machine was updated ... it was like getting a new machine without the new machine price tag!” Steve added. New hydraulic coolers were added, which weren’t available when the machine was purchased, the oil coolers were upgraded, and a new electrical system was installed with a remote transmitter. “We received all of the machine upgrades that had been designed during the past several years. The machine is performing great!” he said.

Other Geoprobe® customers, such as EPI, time the delivery of a new machine with refurbishing an older rig. “We had faith in the Geoprobe® team that the work would get done right and with all of the right parts. Any engineering issues would be resolved with thought put into them and with input from us as well,” Tony added. “The rig has performed flawlessly since it returned in July.”
